Kevin Salverson Invitational Meet Held At Central High School
January 24th, Cheyenne Central hosted the Kevin Salverson Invitational (Indoor Track Meet). This meet was named after a former Central High School student. Salverson was a track and cross country athlete as well as a loved student and son who was killed when he and his friends got hit head on by a drunken driver.
The Meet
On January 24th, schools from around the region competed at the Kevin Salverson Invitational Indoor Track Meet. The events included: pole vault, high jump, triple jump, long jump, shot put, 55 meter hurdles, 55 meter dash, 400 meter dash, 800 meter run, 1600 meter run, and the 4×320 meter Relay. Central tracksters took home a lot of wins in almost all the events for both girls and boys.
The boys who placed top 5 in their events include:
55 meter sprint- Archer Ellis in 1st place with a time of 6.93.
400 meter run- Nick Coppinger in 3rd place with a time of 59.62.
800 meter run- Cal Bibbey in 1st place with a time of 2: 12.83.
1600 meter Run- Cal Bibbey in 1st place with a time of 4:51.60., Tucker Mead in 2nd place with a time of 5:18.65., Hayden Champman in 3rd place with a time of 5:19.02., Wyatt Davis in 5th place with a time of 5:53.35.
4×300 relay- Group B (Breckin Russell, Ryker Young, Samuel Tavares, Brayden Kamarad) in 1st place with a time of 3:10.68, Group A (Tyler Anderson, Archer Ellis, Adam Cortez, Roman Hannon) in 2nd place with a time of 3:12.22, and Group D (unknow) in 3rd place with a time of 3:15.29.
55 meter Hurdles- Keegan O’Dell in 2nd place with a time of 8.93.
Shot Put- Rusty Eilers in 2nd place with a throw of 43-0.600 (13.26m)
Pole Vault- Matthew Hubbard in 5th place with a vault of 9-00.00 (2.74m)

400 meter run- Ellese Klassen in 3rd place with a time of 1:09.14, and Kim Klassen in 5th place with a time of 1:12.30.
800 meter run- Adalyn Racine in 1st place with a time of 2:24.44, Malea Adams-Case in 2nd with a time of 2:26.09, Sofia Rose in 3rd place with a time of 2:33.27, and Ella Montano in 4th place with a time of 2:36.67.
1600 meter Run- Ariann Rodgers in 4th place with a time of 6:40.71, and Zia Latham in 5th place with a time of 7:00.59.
4×300 Relay- Group c (Holly Clement, Makenzie Creel, Kim Klaassen, Peydon Teasley) in 2nd with a time of 3:36.64, Group A (Ella Montano, Malea Adams-Case, Sofia Rose, Adalyn Racines) in 3rd place with a time of 3:39.63, Group B (Ellese Klaassen, London Weaver, Renee Wilson, Sydney Gough) in 4th place with a time of 3:46.26, and Group D (Elle Hodgen, Adrienne Howard, Jordan Oman, Meadow Alm) in 5th place with a time of 3:49.18.
55 meter Hurdles- Holly Clement in 1st place with a time of 9.71, Ellese Klaassen in 2nd place with a time of 10.36, and Peyton Teasley in 4th place with a time of 10.76.
High Jump- Alyssa Newth in 2nd place with a jump of 4-06.00 (1.37m).
Long Jump- Renee Wilson 1st place with a jump of 16-03.00 (4.95m), and Nakaia Howard in 5th place with a jump of 14-05.00 (4.39m).
Triple Jump- Renee Wilson in 2nd place with a jump of 32-10.50 (10.02m), and Ellie Hodgen in 3rd place with a jump of 31-08.00 (9.65m).
Pole Vault- Meadow Alm 3rd place with a vault of 8-00.00 (2.44m).
