January 8-10, Central High School, East High School, and other regional high schools hosted the James Johnson Winter Showcase basketball tournament for girls and boys. Several games were played at Central High School. This tournament hosts teams from all over Wyoming to come compete before regular season play begins.
On Thursday, January 8th, Central’s Boys and Girls Varsity played against Natrona County. The girls Varsity played first taking home a big win with Central outscoring Natrona scoring 64-41 points. While the boys’ scores were closer, Central took home their second win as central put up 56 points while Natrona scored 50.

On Friday, January 9th, Central played against Riverton, with the girls’ varsity starting again, sweeping Riverton under with a final score of 73-36. The central boys’ variety also swept Riverton under with a score of 64-44.
Finally, on Saturday, January 10th, the girls’ and boys’ varsity faced Kelly Walsh. The girls’ varsity wasn’t so lucky this time with scoring 50 points while Kelly Walsh scored 58 points. Even though Central girls didn’t win, they worked hard to come out with 2-1 record for the weekend. The Central boys took home another win of 59-53, making them undefeated in the James Johnson Winter Showcase.
