Speech and Debate Caps Off Year with Accolades

The Speech and Debate team has wrapped up their state competition and as the season nears a close, they have many accomplishments to celebrate.  Most recently, the team captured second place at the state meet in Riverton.

In addition to earning second place in Sweepstakes, several members earned All-State honors in their events:  Cole Church, senior, 1st place Congressional Debate; Leah Torney, junior, 5th place Congressional Debate; Victoria Madden, junior, 3rd place Humor; Hunter Swilling, senior, 2nd place Extemp; Arianna Lewis, junior, 1st place Info and LD Debate;McKenzie Wilson, junior, Oratory; Zach Dillingham, sophomore, 1st place LD Debate.  Other members who placed at state include: Kaycee Warner, junior, 6th place POI and Katrina Zaharas, sophomore, 5th place Info.

Several team members have also qualified for nationals which will be held in Dallas, TX in June.  National qualifiers include: Austin Stephen, senior, Cami Van Ausdall, senior, Leah Torney, Cole Church, Hunter Swilling, Kaycee Warner, Victoria Madden, Jordan Johnson, senior, Arianna Lewis, and Josh Broomfield, senior.

Arianna Lewis also earned All-American status to top off her year.
